Take your heart for a walk

Indians are succumbing to heart disease and stroke a decade earlier than westerners. Rapid urbanization has brought sedentary lifestyles and a significant increase in obesity, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. Brisk walking is a great way to keep fit – it improves blood circulation and good cholesterol levels and helps keep muscles and joints agile. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk when traveling short distances and take 10-15 minute walks when at work.
