7 Steps to Washing Your Hands the Right Way
To stop the spread of COVID-19, washing our hands is a crucial step to reducing the spread of infection. It is important to wash our hands throughout the day, especially after going outside to shop for groceries, before and after eating, before going to bed and as soon as we wake up, after using the washroom, after touching a pet/animal, after handling the garbage and after blowing our noses and after coughing or sneezing.
Our hands come into contact with so many appliances, objects, and even people, so we need to ensure we are cleaning our hands properly.
Here are a few steps to keep in mind:
Step 1: Wet your hands with running warm/cold water. Turn the tap off.
Step 2: Apply soap to the palms of your hands and start rubbing them together.
Step 3: Clean between your fingers.
Step 4: Pay attention to your thumbs.
Step 5: Scrub the back of your hands.
Step 6: Clean under nails as well.
Step 7: Be sure to wash your wrists as well.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
Remember if you are not able to wash them with soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
It is important to spend a good amount of time cleaning your hands, fingers, and wrists for at least 20 seconds.
Practice good hygiene, stay at home and let us do our bit to stop the spread of COVID-19.
