As per a comparative study conducted in four countries, Indian children are more prone to growth inhibition than others. The children were checked at 1, 5, 8, 12, and 15 years of age. The stunted growth is highest in India in all stages except in one-three-year-olds. Due to the common belief that growth stunting is either congenital or happens in the first three years, a lot of attention is paid during this period to the child’s health. But if adequate care is taken from the first 1000 days till adolescence, the problem of growth inhibition in children can be considerably reduced.
