A new study has revealed that deaths related to malnutrition in infants above the age of six months is only around 1.2% as against the WHO estimate of 10% – 20%. This study also found that Indian infants have a small fat reserve in their body which helps them to survive even when they are nutritionally deprived. This study highlights the need for effective nutrition, health, and multi-sectoral interventions in the first 1000 days.
