Health policies to combat malnutrition have shown positive results in the last two decades, says a study. However, diseases associated with malnutrition are still on a rise across the country. It still remains one of the biggest factors for deaths in children below 5 years of age. Low birth weight, associated with malnutrition, is the most common reason of deaths in children. The study also concluded that prolonged nutrient deficiencies affect children’s cognitive, emotional and physical development.
