Studies of people with chronic ailments show people who visit large parks are more likely be regular and are less prone to major depression. Mental health is enhanced by physical activity, largely by increasing the levels of endorphins in the brain. The study cautions against the negative impact of shrinking green spaces and stresses on the need for better town planning.
