Addiction tests are now being used to measure how internet and smartphone use affects social life, productivity, sleeping patterns and feelings. A study involving a group of teenagers diagnosed with internet addiction found significantly higher scores in impulsiveness, depression, anxiety, and severity of insomnia. The tests showed an imbalance in the level of two neurotransmitters responsible for brain signals and electric impulses. The good news is that the imbalance significantly decreased with cognitive behavioural therapy.
